Toronto Violates Senior Citizens'​ Rights with Secret Homeless Housing Plans  ----- This is one of many VOICES OF WILLOWDALE that City of Toronto officials have tried to silence in their pandemic political power grab.

On March 10, with  zero pre-consultation and zero transparency, local Councillor John Filion led a City decision to expropriate the green treed parklands that form part of these seniors' homes. The City claims, but refuses to provide any evidence, that this cherished parkland on a seniors residence is the ONLY PLACE THEY CAN FIND IN THE ENTIRE CITY to drop 64  prefabricated living units for single homeless men with critical mental health and addiction issues --far away from the critical supports located in downtown Toronto!

Affected residents of these homes and the neighborhood were kept in the dark while the local Councillor John Filion claimed huge community support for the secret plan. Filion has attacked residents who dared question him as "obnoxious". All while selling his $3M home in the neighborhood just months earlier.  

Worst of all, the City is asking the Province of Ontario to grant them immunity so that citizens will lose all rights to question or appeal this secret undemocratic process.
