Hello, I am writing this petition on behalf of Elena, a student at the University of Nevada, Reno. Elena is the current President of the University’s Residence Hall Association, and has received no support from the department they assist. Due to their position they are not able to fully speak out, but we are.

Elena has a loving Emotional Support Animal named Fruit Loop (lovingly nicknamed Loop Loop by me). Two weeks ago when moving to a new dorm, Elena and Fruit Loop were harassed by a student. This student is well known for their white supremacist views and discrimination and targeting of trans students. He threw away Fruit Loop’s toys, and then his father shouted in Elena’s face after. Housing took note of this and other reports against this student, but they have been repeatedly ignored (assumingly so because this student has only targeted LGBTQ+ students and students of color, as well as having an attorney as a father).

More recently, this student and Elena are currently again living in the same building for the summer. After alarming an anxious dog and causing him to bark, this student called the cops and animal control. both deemed this unnecessary upon arrival. 

in response to this, and without hearing Elena’s side, housing is deeming Fruit Loop harmful and requiring Elena to once again move to a new building. 

As former RHA President I have kept quiet on many things this department wrong, but this is injustice. If you know how sweet Loop Loop is, please sign this petition to force housing to hear Elena out.
