The Issue

Mr. Palmer has put in remarkable effort into making our lives as students better and overall being the best at what he does. As a student with experience with nearly every teacher, I can promise he is the best teacher I have had my entire education. He deserves to stay and be recognized for his effort, not just as a teacher, but a person.

Mr. Palmer is facing being laid off from International Community School (ICS), and this is a situation we, as students and community members, cannot accept without voicing our support. Mr. Palmer has dedicated himself to the academic growth and personal development of countless students in ICS, positively impacting their futures. His innovative teaching methods, unwavering support, and dedication make the difference in the quality of education we receive.

According to the Washington State Institute for Public Policy, retaining high-quality teachers significantly improves student performance, lowers dropout rates, and enhances emotional well-being in students. Losing Mr. Palmer would not only have adverse effects on students' academic achievements but it could also remove a vital support system for many students.

Recognizing and retaining talented educators like Mr. Palmer is crucial for the future of our community. We urge ICS and relevant educational authorities to reconsider this decision and explore alternative solutions to their staffing challenges without sacrificing such key personnel.

By supporting this petition, you're advocating for the continuous success and well-being of ICS students and making a strong statement about the value of exemplary teachers.

Join us in taking a stand to support Mr. Palmer's continued contribution to our education and community. Sign this petition to show your support and urge ICS and the educational authorities in Washington to keep Mr. Palmer at ICS.
