Help me stop eBay’s gross mistreatment of sellers on it’s platform.

The Issue

I just had a recent experience with eBay that went terrible every step of the way. A buyer decided to be dishonest and misuse the returns policy, claiming that I knowingly sent them a damaged item. EVEN when in their very OWN claim photos, it showed the item(in it’s BRAND NEW box) in perfect condition.

 

I quickly phoned up EBay customer support (who makes it damn near IMPOSSIBLE to get a hold of a real human being). I called over and over again (during business hours) and was told by the ai boy that it couldn’t connect me with an agent because it was outside of business hours.

 

When, I finally got a hold of an agent. She inspected the buyers claim photos that showed absolutely NO damage to the item in the perfect manufacturers box. And, agreed that she was indeed abusing the eBay returns policy. All this happened on the morning of my BIRTHDAY as well. The agent promised to escalate this situation to the higher ups, and that it would be settled in my favor within 48hrs.

 

Lo and behold, 5 days later nothing was done and I was promoted to take action in the case. I appealed and they denied my case in less than 3 minutes, and let the buyer go through with the return. NOBODY even reviewed or looked at the picture proof in that 3 minute window.


I spoke to an agent via chat next who told me that eBay was going to pay the buyer for the return out of their own pocket and told me not to worry, that I wouldn’t be charged…

Four days later..I get the item back inside its box STILL in perfect condition with a nice big dent that the buyer put at the top of the box. I reported it and btw, I reported HER right after she opened the case and nothing was done! After I reported the picture evidence that she’s lied about me misrepresenting my item. The next morning they closed the case in her favor.

 

The sale price was then immediately deducted from my earnings. AS SOON as the package was delivered back to me and, my bank account was charged for the amount only days later. The buyer then slaps the first negative feedback I’ve ever gotten in the 27 years I’ve been on the platform. 
I then, go through the gymnastics of getting a hold of supervisor Kate through chat. She promises to get it removed. Next morning, I wake up to a request DENIED Email! I of course can’t even leave that buyer the negative feedback that they deserve.

 

I had to file a dispute with my credit card company to get the funds that eBay took from me back! Thank goodness they do transcripts of the chats there.  I have included a photo of the item I was selling upon it’s arrival back to me from the buyer.

Something has to change on EBay. Because, what they are doing is ILLEGAL! Please help this petition grow if you’ve experienced something like this on their platform.
