I have recently had a daughter, Zaria, and I want to file for custody.

I have done everything I possibly can for my newly born daughter. I either bought things myself or had people close to me get them, things such as strollers, diapers, a baby monitor, clothes, toys, bathing kits, hair kits, a car seat, and a lot of other stuff that’s needed. I had flown my baby mother out to a different state for the baby shower, and I had to buy 2 separate round trip tickets for the baby mother alone because she canceled and then changed her mind last minute causing the price to jump tremendously. Also, the mother of Zaria and I had agreed upon an abortion very early into the pregnancy because we both decided we were not ready in many ways for a child, but when the time came she lied and said she got the abortion when she did not (although I am now glad she didn’t, now that Zaria is here). We’ve had the name agreed upon for months but now that she is here she tried to fight me about her middle name and refuses to give my daughter my last name. The original name we had agreed upon was Zaria Elora Gregory, she would have my first and last initials and my last name. Also, Zaria means princess and Elora means crown so it fits together. On the day of the birth, I find out that she was going to name our child Elora Heaven Baker, completely cutting any relation to my name out. She eventually went with Zaria Heaven Elora Baker, which is the mother's last name, not mine which isn’t what we agreed upon. The mother of my child also refers to my daughter as “it” instead of “her” or using her name Zaria. She does not answer my FaceTime calls when I want to see my daughter and constantly keeps me away from my daughter any way she can and despite all my efforts to do everything I possibly can, the mother of my child is carrying on as if I do nothing for my daughter. I have done everything I can to try to keep the peace between us, but it is clear this will only get worse and cause problems for me in the future when I want to see my daughter. I feel that me having custody is not only best for both me and the mother but also for my beautiful daughter Zaria. I live in a better area with better schools and less crime and also have a more stable household. I as well as the mother of my child both live with our respective parents, but in my household it is peaceful and education, as well as respect, is important. I am an online college and there are other college graduates in my home. In the mother of my child’s home, they curse a lot, they are violent and most importantly they do not care about education, to my knowledge most if not all of them in that household have not even finished high school and they constantly show me personality traits I rather my daughter does not have growing up. I believe if my daughter Zaria lived with me it would be in everyone’s best interest.

I just wish to avoid the drama and do what’s best for Zaria
