Hello everyone! My name is Gary Muggs, and I’m a HUGE Baltimore Orioles fan! My neighbours took me to my first game at Bowie Baysox when I was a kid. I fell in love with baseball, and I eventually grew up frequenting the Baysox since it was only a 10-minute drive away from where I lived. My favourite all time O’s players are Adam Jones, John Means, Adley Rutschman, Manny Machado, and basically I love the whole team! I look forward to what the O’s team can accomplish this year.

I would like to attempt this challenge again, as I became a new photographer more than a month ago. Originally I came up with this challenge last year, due to playing MLB the Show ’22. It inspired me to come up with a series of baseball-centred summer projects to keep myself occupied to help my mind off my loneliness as I went through a lot of things. The Bowie Baysox was able to offer me an opportunity to throw out a first pitch in honour of my late mom while wearing her fielding glove on the 28th of July last year. She used to play softball in her youth and it was 10 years after her passing at that time, so I thought it was a great way to honour her.

I plan on creating a new series of projects this summer, and I would like to incorporate my photography skills into them. For instance I already sent the Bowie Baysox an email to see if they would be interested in doing a collaboration with me during the Deaf Awareness Week in the first week of May. They will get back to me whether they will go ahead with our project or not in a few weeks. Yeah, I will figure things out as I go by, but I hope everyone will realise how much I really LOVE baseball. I’m seriously considering saving up my money and going to my first game in the Bronx later this year, as one of my dreams is to attend all 30 MLB stadiums for a game.

You know what would be EPIC?! I would LOVE to have an opportunity to throw a first pitch for the Orioles and hang out with O’s players this season! Their Fan Services Team replied to my email last year saying,

“To apply or nominate someone to throw out the first pitch, you can send an email to perform@orioles.com listing the preferred game date, the best contact information, and why you/they would be a good choice to throw out the first pitch. This is the preferred way for us to have fans request or nominate someone to throw out the first pitch. We will review your request and reach back out to you if we are able to set anything up.


Please note that due to the large amount of first pitch requests we receive, we are only able to reach out to those individuals that we would be able to arrange an event with.

We also often reserve first pitch opportunities for a corporate partnership, a guest of the Orioles, or other promotions we may have that particular night.”

I would LOVE to achieve at least 300 signatures to back me up to convince the O’s to consider me to throw out the first pitch. It would make my dream come true and this should be fun!
