Help long term migrants achieve citizenship through restitution for national debt.
The Issue
There are millions of undocumented migrants in the United States who have integrated into our everyday American society. To many, this is not news but rather a fundamental reality of American life. Our country relies on these individuals to help sustain key industries, including agriculture, hospitality, construction, and the food and beverage sectors, all of which heavily depend on this workforce.
Many of these individuals have lived in the United States for over 20 years, contributing as productive members of society. It is vital to raise awareness about their contributions and advocate for a pathway that allows them to address their violation of U.S. immigration laws responsibly. One proposal is to implement a system where they pay a set restitution amount over an extended period. The funds collected by the government could be directly allocated to reducing the United States’ national debt.
This approach would ensure transparency by clearly showing the total amount raised, illustrating how these migrants are making amends by contributing positively to the nation. By participating in such a program, they can be formally recognized as valuable members of the community, upholding strong moral standards and adhering to U.S. laws.
There is an estimated 14 million undocumented migrants in this country. If they agreed to pay $180 a month for 30 years without interest, it could raise over $907 billion, helping to pay back a significant portion of the United States’ national debt.
Help support this proposal by signing our petition and raising awareness to encourage policymakers to take action. Together, we can advocate for a fair and constructive solution that benefits both undocumented migrants and the nation as a whole. Thank you for standing with us in pursuit of this meaningful change.
Proposal submitted by Alan Raul Martinez.
