Imagine being the only person in your family facing the possibility of having to leave New Zealand while everyone else is allowed to stay.

That is the reality I am facing today.

My name is Paritporn Wetbunphot, and I moved to New Zealand with my family in 2022 to start a new chapter together. Since then, I have worked, built meaningful friendships, become part of my local community, and made New Zealand my home.

Today, every member of my immediate family has been granted New Zealand residence except me. While my parents and siblings can continue building their lives here, I face the heartbreaking possibility of being separated from them.

I respect New Zealand's immigration laws and understand that immigration decisions must be made according to the law. I am not asking for special treatment. I simply ask that my individual circumstances, and the impact this decision could have on my family, be considered with compassion and fairness.

New Zealand is more than the place where I live. It is where I have built my life, created lasting friendships, and found a community that welcomed me. The thought of leaving my family and the life we have built together is incredibly difficult.
