Help homelessness in Aurora by raising the minimum wage

The Issue

Recently, the number of homeless people in Aurora has increased significantly. One of the measures that is being taken to deal with it is the Urban Camping Ban. It was passed and will be enforced on April 28, 2022. But, this isn't a solution to solve homelessness. When homeless people are abated from their camps they usually go to the next street corner or highway intersection. This is just a temporary solution, so we need to do something that would help homelessness in the long run. The minimum wage in Aurora is currently $12.56 an hour. Clearly, $12 isn’t enough because living costs are constantly on the rise and so many people are ending up homeless. By raising the minimum wage, we could prevent homelessness in the first place, and get one step closer to ending homelessness in Aurora.
