Help Green Meadows Farm

Help Green Meadows Farm
The Issue
Green Meadows Farm is located on Floyd Bennett Field, which is part of the Gateway National Park. The farm operates under a sublease from Aviator Sports Center. Aviator’s lease with the National Park Service is expiring this Spring, and they have told us that the National Park Service has directed them to terminate our sublease, which means that we will be required to close our doors to the public sometime this Spring. If that happens, we don’t know if we would ever be able to reopen. That would be heartbreaking, as we now serve over 500 schools and countless families throughout New York City. We have asked the National Park Service to issue us a permit to continue to operate the Farm so we can continue to serve children, schools and families, including many underserved communities.
We have asked Senator Charles Schumer and Representative Hakeem Jeffries to use their influence with the National Park Service to help get this done. We are fortunate that, as the Senate Minority Leader and House Minority Leader, they are in fact very influential in Washington, DC, and we are hopeful that they will understand the important service that the Farm provides to the community.
Please, please, please contact the Park Service, Senator Schumer and Representative Jeffries and let them know what Green Meadows Farm has meant for you and your children, and how important you think it is for the Farm to remain open.
