The Issue

Are YOUR Senators on the List of Co-Sponsors?



As of May 28, 2009 there are ten Senate co-sponsors of the Autism Treatment Acceleration Act (ATAA) of 2009.






What is the ATAA?


“Building on the overwhelmingly bipartisan Combating Autism Act of 2006, the ATAA legislation includes a (an):


- demonstration project to develop Autism Care Centers, which would be comprehensive treatment facilities that provide a full array of medical, behavioral, mental health, educational and family care services to individuals and families in a single location:


- demonstration project to provide an array of services to adults with autism spectrum disorders;


- voluntary population-based autism case registry;


- national multimedia campaign focused on needs throughout the lifespan;


- Interdepartmental Coordinating Committee to build upon the work of the existing Interagency Autism Coordinating Committee;


- National Network to strengthen linkages between existing research and service initiatives


- national training initiative on autism.”
