Help get a Bottle Bill passed in North Carolina.

The Issue

My name is Wesley Bryie. I am a Sophomore at the Harnett County Early College in Harnett County, North Carolina. I am the lead contact for the North Carolina Bottle Bill Project.

The NC Bottle Bill Project began after studying recycling in our High School Earth and Environmental Science class. A “Bottle Bill” is a law or act passed in our Legislature which requires the implementation of Bottle Deposit Stations around our state. The process of using a deposit station starts with buying a bottle of water or other beverage from a store. Once done with the item, you take it (or even a bunch of bottles) to the Bottle Deposit Station, and in return you get a refund of 5 to 10 cents.

Bottle Bills help encourage recycling in some of our states already. As an example, California passed their Bottle Bill in 1987. Californians have deposited over 450 billion bottles and cans since 1988.

Now think back to near your home. How many times have you seen plastic bottles or can litter in your streets? With a Bottle Bill, we can greatly decrease that, and keep our state healthy and clean.

You can find out more at https://bottlebill.wesbryie.com/ and you can reach us at bottlebill@wesbryie.com or at +1 (984) 355-0673 (This phone number will reach Wesley Bryie directly.)

We hope that you will consider signing this petition or that you will forward this petition to others.
