The Issue

Titan has been kept in his kennel without being walked or given enrichment time in the play yard for over 114 days because he has been erroneously labeled as a dangerous dog.  Proper assessments were not done or were done incorrectly by untrained staff.  The behavior assessments that were completed were grossly inadequate and unfair as one was virtual and Titan was not even present for the other one!

As a result of this solitary confinement, Titan has gained weight and is beginning to look unwell.  Some of his advocates fear he is being drugged to keep him sedated in His kennel.  We do not know if this is true or not but there is great concern for his wellbeing.  If his condition continues to deteriorate then the Acting Director may be able to justify killing him( her plan from the start).

Titan has rescue funds amassed over $2000 from supporters and advocates.  We are begging the shelter to release him to a rescue or sanctuary for proper veterinary care and evaluation and training.

Please  help us get the attention of township officials in Hempstead NY as it seems the management at TOHAS( Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter) have lost all moral compass.  Titan is a non dangerous dog that is being treated in a cruel fashion at the merciless direction of the Acting Director and incompetent trainers.

To learn more about Titan’s backstory and how he finds himself in this unfortunate situation, please visit Save Titan on Facebook.  To briefly summarize, he was being walked by an elderly person who was his guardian. The gentlemen fell.  A neighbor was nearby taking out her trash cans.  Titan jumped on her while mistakenly thinking the gentleman was in danger. It is believed he acted defensively not offensively and was trying to protect his guardian.  The neighbor sustained  injuries not sufficient enough to declare a dangerous designation or recommend euthanasia. In the court stipulation, the neighbor and guardian both agreed Titan was not a dangerous dog yet here he sits locked away in a cell never seeing daylight.
