Help fight world hunger

Help fight world hunger
The Issue
I often wonder how many people are ‘genuinely’ concerned about world hunger. One only needs to turn on the television, pick up a newspaper or magazine to stumble across a plea to contribute money to non-profit or religious-affiliated organizations which help to eradicate world hunger.
Unfortunately, many of these organizations fail to recognize that hunger does not simply manifest itself in economically poor and under-developed nations, and they fail to understand and combat the root cause of hunger. In fact, hunger is the direct result of selfish and unhealthy global consumerism. Consumers who choose to purchase and eat animal meat are part of this serious problem.
I would like to believe that no one wants to see a child go hungry, and the terribly sad thing is that no one should go hungry because there is plenty of food to go around.
If you want to stop 1 billion people from going hungry each day; If you want to stop the needless deaths taking place every 3.6 seconds due to starvation then a vegetarian lifestyle is the solution to help solve world hunger. World hunger stems from the inefficient use of resources used for animal agriculture.
Grain currently fed to livestock is enough to feed 2 billion people. Compassion in World Farming, "[c]rops that could be used to feed the hungry are instead being used to fatten animals raised for food." It takes up to 16 pounds of grain to produce just 1 pound of edible animal flesh.
Indeed, what we eat does affect the world. The consumption of animal meat is responsible for the lack of resources necessary to eradicate world hunger.
If you are truly concerned about world hunger, and if you do not want to see a child or another human being die of starvation, please pledge to consider the above information. A human life is more valuable than a momentary culinary delight.
