Hi Everyone,
Thank you to everyone that responded to my request for energy complaints last month.
I massively under-estimated the amount of work that would go into analysing and reading all of the emails I received, so I wasn't able to present the information to Ofgem on 18 January as originally planned, but I have now completed the task and sent a formal document to Ofgem for their review. I'll bring up this document in this month's meeting I have with Ofgem to see if they've had chance to review the document and provide comments/actions.
If you'd like to read the document, you can see the full document here: https://www.over50smoney.com/Home+Bills/Energy/371__Over50smoney+Analysis+of+Energy+Customer+Complaints
I just want to say a proper thank you for sharing your stories and situations with me, I haven't had chance to reply to all of your emails yet but I have been through and read every single one. It wasn't easy reading, but I want you all to know you're not alone in your struggles. We're working together to make some serious changes that can hopefully make a difference to our lives.
As a small glimmer of hope, if you haven't already heard, the price cap is predicted to drop to ~£2,200 in July this year and stay around that price for about a year, so next winter should be cheaper than this winter. And that's without any extra drop in the cap if we get our changes pushed through!
I know this is of little solace the day after Shell has announced record-breaking profit levels, but that's exactly why I'm doing this petition and why you signed it.
I'm not calling for any big actions with this update, but as always I'd like to ask you to share this petition online again, post it on facebook, insta, twitter, linkedin, email it, talk about it, put it in a glass bottle and send it down the river, any way you can think of spreading the message, please do. The more people that sign this petition, the more Ofgem and the Government will listen to us.
Oh also, I still haven't handed the petition into 10 Downing Street. We are still planning to do this but we're thinking of doing it around May/June at a time when there is pressure on the Government already over their Energy Price Guarantee becoming useless from July onward (because the cap will be lower than their guarantee). I'll write some more about this in the coming months and let you know when it's ready.
Thanks again everyone, have a great weekend.
Richard Winstone
