Help Create the World's First Carbon Negative Recycling Facility!
The Issue
Who is Impacted?
Residents everywhere are bearing the brunt of skyrocketing electric bills and an outdated waste management system. In Connecticut, families and businesses alike are struggling with some of the highest electricity rates in the nation, with costs climbing to over 20 cents per kilowatt-hour—nearly double the national average.
Our waste disposal practices aren’t helping either; towns are paying about $115 per ton for waste disposal, a steep increase from just $65 per ton two years ago. These rising costs are straining municipal budgets, leading to higher taxes, and worsening the financial burden on already stretched communities. Meanwhile, only 5% of our waste stream is actually recycled, with the rest burned in incinerators or dumped in distant landfills, polluting our air and contributing to health issues like asthma.
What is at Stake?
If we continue on this path, Connecticut will face even higher electric rates, increased taxes, and growing environmental damage from pollution. A.B. EcoPark offers a transformative solution. By turning waste into renewable energy, A.B. EcoPark would lower electric rates for residents through a new municipal power grid, saving millions of dollars annually. It would boost our recycling and repurposing rate from 5% to nearly 100%, drastically reducing what ends up in incinerators & landfills, and also cutting down on harmful emissions.
The facility’s carbon-negative operations would convert organic waste into renewable natural gas, providing a sustainable alternative to fossil fuels for home heating. This project also promises to save taxpayers up to $30 million per year by lowering disposal costs. By missing this opportunity, we’re sacrificing cleaner air, cheaper energy, and significant financial relief for our communities.
Why is Now the Time to Act?
The need for A.B. EcoPark has never been more urgent. As disposal costs and electric rates continue to rise, the pressure on families and businesses will only intensify. Our current waste management system is not only outdated but harmful to our health and environment. Misinformation has already derailed the project in North Haven, but it’s not too late to correct course. With your support, we can show our leaders that the community backs this innovative project. By approving A.B. EcoPark, Connecticut has the chance to be a leader in sustainable waste management and renewable energy, turning a pressing problem into an opportunity for growth and resilience. Let’s not let fear and misinformation rob us of a cleaner, more affordable future.
Act now—sign the petition to support A.B. EcoPark and help us turn trash into treasure!
Thank you :)
