Twin Lakes Owl Open Space

Jan 15, 2017
As someone who loves Open Space and Owls at Twin Lakes you can help now at this most important time.
The Boulder County Planning Commission has chosen - this Weds Jan 18- to hold a historic second public hearing on whether the Owl Hunting Grounds will be destroyed to build 300+ apartments or whether the Twin Lakes Owl Preserve and Open Space will be created.
1) If you love Owls and Open Space, can you sign up to speak at the public hearing this Weds Jan 18 between 5pm and 7pm on Pearl St. at the Boulder County Courthouse? (1325 Pearl St)
All you need to say is that "I love Owls. Please Planning Commission, please create the Twin Lakes Owl Preserve and Open Space. There are better alternative locations for the development that will not destroy Colorado's most famous Owls".
Sign up to speak by using the Boulder County form at: https://bouldercounty.wufoo.com/forms/w1czlsrt13f6vrz/
If you sign up to speak you will get your time slot emailed to you the day before the hearing.
If you can sign up to speak please email us at info@BoulderOwlPreserve.org to let us know you can help!
If you are present at the hearing you can also donate your time so that Owl Preserve team can speak longer- email us if you would like to help in this way.
2) If you can't make the hearing goto this link: http://www.bouldercounty.org/property/build/pages/askaplanner.aspx
and fill out the public comment form and say in your own words something like:
"I love Owls. Please Planning Commission, please create the Twin Lakes Owl Preserve and Open Space. There are better alternative locations for the development that will not destroy Colorado's most famous Owls".
(in the docket space write: Twin Lakes)
(actually if you can attend the public hearing you can also send a note to the planning commission in advance too)
Also - this Monday night and next week there will be Owl Nature Hikes where you can come celebrate the Owls.
Last week on the hike I was leading 20 people had the remarkable experience of seeing Mother and Father Owl on the left and right side of the walking path hooting to each other and talking back and forth as they over looked the Owl Hunting meadow. We could see the female Owl in a huge cottonwood tree lit up by the full moon and had the joy of watching her fly.
Thank you for attending the Weds Owl Public Hearing at the Boulder County Courthouse on Pearl St in downtown Boulder or join us at Twin Lakes for the Monday Jan 16 Night Owl Nature Hike:
