Twin Lakes Owl Open Space
28 feb 2016
Please attend this critical meeting where City Council will vote on the future of the Great Horned Owls. Your being at this Monday's meeting (Feb 29, 2016 5:30pm) will help Council to vote Yes for the Owl Preserve and no to high density development on the Owl Hunting Meadow. Click to view picture of the baby owlets at the Owl Preserve http://photos1.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/7/a/7/b/600_444991355.jpeg The Owl Hunting Meadow, which is threatened to be bulldozed by Boulder County Housing Authority/Boulder Valley School District is only 65 feet away from where this picture of the young owls was taken. The baby owls will hatch over the next week or so. Can you take two hours to help? Click here to RSVP: http://www.meetup.com/BoulderOwlPreserve/events/229144431/ As you arrive around 5:30pm, please see the Owl Preserve volunteer team either inside on the lower level or outside the west door. Public comment is not allowed at this meeting so we'll have more than 100 owl sequin masks that we can all wear to encourage City Council to protect the Great Horned Owls. The masks will be free to you and if you are inspired you can make a $2 donation to help fund the Owl Preserve. At 5:45pm we will sit as close as possible to the front so we can be proud advocates for the Great Horned Owls and encourage Council Members and Mayor Elise Jones to vote Yes for the Owl Preserve. http://photos2.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/7/a/4/7/600_444991303.jpeg (click hear to view the father Great Horned Owl who is now feeding his partner as she keeps the eggs warm through February. The proximity of the Hunting Meadow is critical for the owl's survival. This photo was also taken at the site of the preserve.) Together, we can find a location for the development that better serves potential residents and allows for the creation of the Boulder Great Horned Owl Preserve at Twin Lakes. Thank you for inviting friends, co-workers and family. Thank you for sharing this invitation personally, by email and be re-posting on message boards.
