Recently 5 university students from Izmir, Turkey first tried to attack an old cat with their dog and killed the cat by hitting him in the head with their feet. Eventually they were taken by the police and they were released with no actual punishment just a fine which is 300 TL (210 $)

Their brutal actions are recorded by the security camera and the link to the video is here: http://www.posta.com.tr/video?VideoID=3330

The law is extremely insufficient for the cruelty towards animals in Turkey. There is no punishment for  murdering or torturing animals so the law must change in order to keep these innocent creatures safe.

With this petition, we ask for real justice and want the violence to be stopped and murderers to be punished in within the penal code in Turkey.

We want these murderers to be trialled and imprisoned in a novel justice system where Law No. 5199 Animal Protection Law is properly changed to be evaluated within the Penal Code.

We want them to be trialled, to be imprisoned when necessary and ask for the crime to be registered on their personal record.

The law is extremely insufficient towards the cruelty towards animals in Turkey. There is no punishment for murdering or torturing animals so the law must change in order to keep these innocent creatures safe.

The animal rights law must be changed and animal abuse must be a crime in the eye of the law.
