The Issue

My name is Mikaylah Gray, My Brother Logan Taylor was shot on November 11th 2023 and died November 13th 2023 in the hospital after being pronounced brain dead and being taken off life support. the 13 year old boy, who is 14 now has already spent 190 days in juvenile detention. he was found guilty of reckless  homicide and is only going to serve 3 years for firearm specification and not for taking my brothers life. The justice system in Ohio is messed up in so many ways but now that juveniles are committing more serious crimes, they can’t be held accountable for their actions and get the time that they deserve because they are under age. in 11 other states this is not the case, a juvenile that commits a serious enough crime, such as reckless homicide, first-degree murder, second-degree murder, or third-degree will be charged the same amount of time that an adult would. that’s why i’m creating logan’s law because families like mine that are going through something like this deserve justice. Logan deserves justice. He deserves for people to know who he was and the type of person he was and his story deserves to be told.
