Update American Leadership Academy's Dress Code to be Gender Equal/Nondiscriminatory

Update American Leadership Academy's Dress Code to be Gender Equal/Nondiscriminatory
The Issue
Please help me reach my goal of 1000 signatures before I present my proposition to the school board.
Hi! My name is Seth Wright. I’m a 9th, soon 10th grade student at ALA Ironwood. I’ve gone to ALA since Kindergarten. From Kindergarten until now, one of the biggest things that stuck out to me was the school's dress code. As I got older and learned more, I realized that ALA’s dress code needs some changes. I’m making this petition as a call to action for American Leadership Academy’s Board of Directors to update/reform the school’s dress code. Our current dress code is behind with the times. It is sexist and discriminatory. The dress code consists of multiple things that only boys have to follow. Some statements include, "Girl’s polos may be worn untucked; however, any undershirts must be tucked in. Boy’s shirts must be tucked in.", "All boy’s pants must have belt loops, and boys must wear belts", or "Boys’ hair cannot be longer than the top of the collar and must be off the ears. Hair length in front should not fall below the eyebrows or otherwise interfere with or obstruct student vision." All of these are requirements for boys while there aren't any for girls. These rules are sexist even though the dress code policy says, "ALA does not discriminate on the basis of gender, race, color or national origin..." Boy's may also not wear makeup. With these policies in place it oppresses boys from expressing themselves. Members of the LGBTQ+ community are unable to freely express themselves as well. I am asking that the dress code becomes gender neutral and equal. Remove the unnecessary policies and allow everyone to express themselves a little more freely. I'm not saying get rid of the polos and guidelines but allow it so that boys can have hair past their ears and wear makeup/jewelry if they so please. Many businesses have updated their dress code policies to be gender neutral but still be professional. One such business is GM which its dress code is only two words, "Dress Appropriately". Many hairstyles still look professional even if they go past the ears and neck. There could be new guidelines put in place to ensure that the rules don't get entirely bent but the dress code should be changed. Girls are allowed to express themselves as they please when boys must follow guidelines that are enforced with disciplinary action. ALA says it doesn't discriminate but the current dress code discriminates against boys, LGBTQ+ youth, and cultures where boys having long hair is the norm. Please help make the dress code fair for everyone.
