Help Carmel Murphy return home
The Issue
Hello, my name is Carmel Murphy and I'm asking for you to please support my petition for my commutation let me tell you a little bit about myself and why I'm asking for a second chance at life. I have been incarcerated for 21 years. During my incarceration, I have completed five vocational training programs such as computer literacy, office services and related technologies, carpentry, HVAC, electrical works. I've worked as a cosmetology literacy clerk, a law library clerk, and an education clerk. I'm a self-help facilitator for aware which is an accountability workshop and restorative education. I also facilitate LLP just live learn and prosper which focuses on healing holistically from past trauma. I have two AA degrees, one in social and behavioral science and an AA in psychology. I am also an omcp mentor. I am a certified drug and alcohol counselor. I work with Ella Baker center as a developer for the fundy strategy lab. I have also worked with ccwp and unapologetically hers as a resentencing advocate to disseminate information about resentencing of options, provide comprehensive training and support to my community. Throughout my years in prison, I have achieved a deeper understanding of my crime myself and how the way I grew up played a pivotal role in my crime. I now understand the causative factors that led to my role in my crime. As a result of my recovery and rehabilitation, it has helped me discover the root causes of all those old feelings, beliefs and fears. I could more easily see how ridiculous my beliefs become and changed them and because my beliefs have changed I have changed. I've been able to address these issues through deep reflection and internalization the information in the groups I have taken during my incarceration. I have taken over 56 self-help groups and workshops as well as facilitate here given the second chance. I know I could be an asset to my community today. Please support my petition for commutation thank you
