A Lifeline for West Maui: The Urgent Need for a Hospital

For too long, West Maui residents have faced life-threatening delays in medical emergencies, forced to endure long and often dangerous drives to the island’s only major hospital. Too often, those delays have meant the difference between life and death.

The West Maui Hospital Foundation’s proposed hospital would cut emergency response times in half—saving lives and ensuring timely, high-quality care close to home.

As Lahaina rebuilds from the devastating August 8, 2023 wildfire, we must also rebuild stronger, with the essential healthcare infrastructure our community deserves. This hospital isn’t just about medical services—it’s about resilience, recovery, and a healthier future for West Maui.
