We are working to help Mohsen reunite with his wife and daughter and to help them secure legal status in Sweden.

This family has endured unimaginable suffering simply for holding fast to their faith. They fled their home country of Iran to escape religious persecution, and have now been separated from one another for five years - a huge part of Mohsen’s young daughter’s life.

Mohsen is an Iranian-born man in his seventies. Decades ago, while visiting a friend in America, he converted to Christianity. After returning to Iran, Mohsen faced severe persecution from the Iranian government. He received death threats warning that if he did not hide his faith, he would be killed in an engineered accident. Eventually, Mohsen and his pregnant wife were arrested in their hometown in northern Iran. The escalating pressure forced them to flee the country with their young daughter.

They initially sought refuge in Armenia, but it proved to be a difficult place to build a new life. They faced various hardships including the lack of a Farsi-speaking community. Seeking a better future, they moved to Sweden and applied for refugee status. 

Their refugee applications were denied three times, and the family was not told why. Mohsen’s wife and daughter returned to Armenia, where they were permitted to stay because their daughter was enrolled in school. Later, they attempted to return to Sweden to reunite with Mohsen, but they were unable to secure visas. Mohsen cannot return to Armenia for fear of being deported back to Iran and likely imprisoned. Meanwhile, Mohsen's legal status in Sweden remains unclear.
