In the state of Kentucky not all motorcyclists are required to wear helmets. The current law is that those who are under 21 years of age must wear a helmet, in addition people who only have a “instruction permit” must wear a helmet, and lastly those who have only been licensed to ride a motorcycle “for less than one (1) year” must wear a helmet**. If you do not fit into these categories, you do not need to wear a helmet. This is an unsafe practice due to the dangerous nature of a motorcycle accident. 

This petition is meant to bring awareness to this and to petition a change in the requirements in the Kentucky Law making helmet wearing a necessity.
