Help reunite stolen dog with his family!

The Issue

On June 13th, Emily, aka Emerald, posted a TikTok video of a dog she coaxed off of a farm in March. In her video, she claimed that the dog was abused and abandoned, and that she was keeping him as her 'housewarming gift' to herself since she had recently moved.

Emily forgot that we can see the dog in the video of her taking it from the farm. He was a healthy, well groomed, trained, and well socialized blue heeler - clearly someone's well cared for pet or working farm dog.

Many people have asked Emily to share the location where she found the dog, in order to identify the property owner and let them know their dog is alive. If the owner doesn't want the dog anymore, and confirms the dog was actually abandoned, then Emily can keep him. But we can't let her coax a dog off private property, decide to keep him because he's cute and well trained, and pretend he was abused to justify it. It's likely that the dog has an owner who's been missing him!

Please sign to encourage Emily to share the location where she took the dog, so he doesn't have to spend another day away from his family.

Emily has made a lot of claims. Emily claims the dog was 'emaciated' when she took him, but videos don't lie, and he was a healthy weight. Emily claims his nails were overgrown, but the video shows they were a normal length the day she put him in her car and drove off. She claims he had ticks and fleas, but she shared a video of her giving him a bath the day she took him from his home, and the bathwater is clear and clean at the end - the bathwater would be dirty if there were fleas. Also, it's normal to have the occasional tick in farm country! She claims the dog had giardia when she stole him, but that's simply not true; based on receipts she's shared on her Instagram Stories, she bought meds to treat him for giardia on Apr. 19th, 3+ weeks after finding him, when giardia presents in dogs in about 24 hours. Given the timing, the dog likely contracted giardia while under her care. (Also, giardia is common in dogs that spend time outdoors - it's in nearly every creek and pond in the world.)

Emily claims to have tried to find the dog's real owner before deciding to keep the dog for herself. But people local to the Bakersfield/Kern County area, where she claims to have 'found' him, confirm that she doesn't have a single post in any of the local Facebook lost & found pet pages. It's also confirmed that she doesn't have any 'found dog' posts on Craigslist or Instagram. Emily refuses to share where else she might have posted online.

Emily claims to have made signs, but no one local can recall ever seeing a poster anywhere in the area about this dog. She claims to have alerted local shelters that she 'found' the dog, but won't say which shelters, or produce receipts!

Emily is continuing to refuse to share the location where she found the dog.

She claims the dog would be better off with her than with its real owners. Her reasoning is that the dog wasn't wearing a collar, wasn't microchipped, and wasn't neutered. She doesn't seem to realize that farm dogs don't wear collars, as they can get caught on fencing and suffocate the dog. Working farm dogs are often part of breeding programs and don't get neutered. And microchips can migrate and be missed. None of this is abuse!

Please help. Emily is updating her Instagram Stories daily. She has stated that she has been crying, and is experiencing trauma from the backlash she is receiving online, as people are upset that she stole a dog. While we do not condone bullying, we also cannot let up on our requests for information on exactly where and when she took the dog. We hope this petition helps encourage Emily to do the right thing and share information so others can get in contact with the property owner on her behalf.
