Over the 5 year+ that I have played this game Hello Games has done an AMAZING job of building the game up from what it was originally at launch to the very popular game it has become with the latest "Frontiers" update.  In that time they have done a lot of work on making profound changes to the original game, Base Building, the Ability to play with friends, Expeditions, as well as the ability to own a interstellar fleet of frigates to support you adventures.  While they have made it possible to own multiple, up to 6 ships, which you can fly with the addition of expeditions and twitch drops this hard limit of 6 make finding a cool new ship design a torture test to make the call if you should replace one of your 6 or not.

My hope with this this petition is to provide Hello Games with visibility to an aspect of the game that feels like it needs another pass.  What I am proposing is that Hello Games KEEP the cap of 6 ships in place but add a progression mechanic in that once you have a freighter that you can increase that ship limit based on the number of frigates you have in your fleet.  As you increase the number of frigates (up to the limit of 30) you also unlock a spot to save a new ship.  Bringing the total number of ships a player can keep up to 36.
