Justice for Dilute and All Non-Standard coloured Labrador Retrievers.

It is time to seek justice for the dilute Labradors and their owners!  In 1986, the AKC and the LRC conducted an investigation on Labradors that were being registered as "Silver", the conclusion of that investigation resulted in both the AKC and LRC believing them to be pure bred Labradors but did not feel they should be registered as "Silver" and decided to register them as "Chocolate" due to the fact that they fit the chocolate color standard at that time.  The LRC has recently changed their stance on the pureness and acceptance of the dilute Labrador retrievers due to council members that simply do not believe that a dilute gene can be possible in the Labrador gene pool, even though history proves that breeds interbred into the Labradors to perfect the Labrador breed, before the closing of the stud books, also themselves carry or express the dilute gene.  The LRC has made this change based on "Opinion"  rather than Fact, as stated by Dr. Francis O. Smith, DVM.  Dr. Smith also falsely accuses the first breeders to produce "Silver" Labradors, as also being breeders of Weimaraners..which has been proven to be False.  She then goes on to state that "Although we cannot conclusively prove that the silver Labrador is a product of crossbreeding the Weimaraner to a Labrador, there is good evidence in scientific literature indicating that the Labrador has never been identified as carrying the dilute gene dd...".  I myself have found historical writings about Retrievers dating back to 1896, that describe dilute colouring perfectly and as we know it today.  Although in those historical writings it did not come right out and call the colouring "dilute", as Dilute was not a known term for canine coloring until testing confirmed the gene in 2005, it did perfectly describe what we today know as a dilute chocolate Labrador/"Silver".  The members of LRC have bullied their opinions onto other Labrador clubs and registries with their false accusations.  One of the most recent changes in clubs is from the UKC/HRC division.  The UKC/HRC have recently made changes to their policies on registration and have denied "Silver"/dilute chocolate and "Charcoal"/dilute Black registration as purebred Labradors and instead they are classified as "breed/colour unknown", whilst their "champagne"/dilute yellow siblings remain recognized as Labradors.  They have also restricted "Silver" and "charcoal" Labradors from participating in HRC Hunt Test events, even though many of the dogs owners  have paid their dues for either Full UKC registration or Performance listing registration and they have not offered any compensation to the owners who paid the fees to be able to run their dogs in the HRC Hunt test events.  The Fact that a yellow/"champagne"dog with siblings of "Silver"/dilute chocolate or "Charcoal"/dilute black can still be classified as the breed it is while colour seperates the other two from being the breed they are is ludicrous!  The fact that a dilute chocolate or black puppy being born from black, yellow or chocolate parents who have full UKC registration but cannot be registered as their parents as Labrador retrievers is ludicrous.  The fact that an organization like UKC can take owners money for registrations and then deny their dogs from running in an HRC sanctioned Hunt test event while other mismarks, such as tan and brindle points, is Ludicrous!  And all of this is based off nothing more than an OPINION!  The Canadian Kennel Club recently did research of their own and their genetics and medical committee came to the conclusion that "silver coloured Labrador retrievers can/should be registered as purebred."  But, the LRC denies these findings and still uphold their "Opinion" based on "Opinions" rather than Facts!  Other clubs are too scared to speak out due to pressure from LRC's members.  This has got to stop!  LRC's members are corrupting the system based on personal opinion.  They turn a blind eye to things actually inhibiting the Labrador breed such as genetic diseases, weight, structure, breeding dogs that can perform the duties they were bred to perform, etc, and put a dilute gene above all other factors.  A gene that very well could have been in the breed before the closing of the stud books and laid dormant until meeting another recessive carrier, much like what happened with chocolate.  The chocolate gene is proven to have laid dormant in a line of Labradors for 90 years before surfacing in the line.  90 years hidden!!  Think about that for a second....

I petition for justice for the dilute Labradors and for their owners who are slandered daily and fight with love for their beautiful companions, their Labrador retrievers!  I fight for acceptance of the dilute Labrador retrievers as it was decided upon in 1986, with the original AKC and LRC members who had their hands on the dogs in question and current evidence to make the decision they made at that time, not LRC members today who have pull with the organization who do not have genetic knowledge and base their stance on an "OPINION" versus solid hardcore facts that their predecessors had.  I fight for all of the HRC Hunt Testers who have been denied the chance to enjoy an organization where they can enjoy their dogs, family and friends they have made in the game.  I fight for all the dilute Labradors who love their people unconditionally and are loyal, lifelong companions regardless of the dilute gene they carry!  I fight for ALL colours of Labradors REGARDLESS of mismark or Disqualifying colour which includes "Dudleys", tan points, brindle points, mosaics, chimeras, mismarks, white patches, etc...

I FIGHT!!!...  Will you fight too??

I want LRC to be held accountable for this slanderous "movement" they have initiated.  I want UKC and HRC to be held accountable for money they have taken from dilute owners to be able to run HRC Hunt tests only to later be denied for no logical reason.  I want all Clubs, with exception to AKC,  to be held accountable for not having the backbone to stand up for what is right and to let an "Opinion" over Fact rule...

Please sign the petition and help gain equality for the dilute and all colour Labradors....
