List menstrual hygiene products as essential goods and make them accessible to all.

The Issue

Sanitary pads, or menstrual hygiene products in general aren't categorized as essential goods. But it is a dire need of the times that they be considered and treated that way.

A 50 percent of our population faces immense discomfort on a monthly basis, while fighting with the stigma around their basic biologies, and can contract deadly diseases for the lack of proper hygiene.

About 82 percent of women in India are unable to access it, and it's a nightmare. It's a shame that we, as the people of privilege, do nothing about this massive issue that the women of our country face daily.
According to reports, the inaccessibility of menstrual hygiene products is the fifth largest reason for deaths in women.

We need to make sure they don't feel like it's their problem alone. Let us do our parts to make the lives of the womenfolk a little less miserable.

By making these products essential products, the government will be able to regulate their production, supply and distribution and make them available to the citizens at fair prices.

They'll reach the remotest nooks anf corners of the country where they're hardly even heard of. If the centre takes it upon itself to ensure it reaches everywhere that it's needed, it is possible. And for that, the whole country shall be grateful.
