Stop Health Delivery from removing the name of DAVID R. GAMEZ, from their main building located at 501 Lapeer Ave. Saginaw, Michigan!

The current Health Delivery Board of control has opened discussions that proposes to eliminate the name of David R. Gamez from the name of their headquarters. We are signing this petition as strongly opposed to the potential of such an action.

David Gamez is revered in the community as an outstanding "community servant" and even in retirement he continues to give of himself and his expertise, to organizations across the state for the good of the entire community. Mr. Gamez has led an amazing life that promoted racial equality as well as building a legacy of good healthcare in the region and the state of Michigan.   Just as important, his name alone accurately represents dignity and pride and unifies our community. As you can see from his bio below he has dedicated his life to many efforts. This in no way is a complete list of the many organizations of the past or current, which he continues to support in any way including: Saginaw Promise, American GI Forum, Mexican American Council, the Great Lakes Bay Hispanic Business Association, LLEAD, Crime Prevention Council, Board of Health for Saginaw County, Saginaw Public Schools Foundation, Saginaw Promise Board and Saginaw Area Foundation for Eye Care.

We ask the board to discontinue any action that would take the name of David R. Gamez off the current "David R. Gamez Community Health Center" as it would be an insult to his legacy and to the community he continues to serve.
