Imagine that you and over 1,300 of your colleagues have, for years, been dedicated to delivering the best quality patient care you can, supporting people back to health, supporting other health professionals to do their jobs and not being paid the rate for the job.

That is what has been happening a Swansea Bay Health Board for decades. 1,300 staff, mostly women and who are already among the lowest paid in the NHS, have been working over and above their pay grade, in some instances for over a decade.

But they fought back, and they WON. The campaign of UNISON members in the health board saw an agreement to increase the pay band of these health care workers along with a recognition/back payment.

And then, just two weeks before the deadline for implementing this agreement, and with no notice, the health board announced on an internal information platform they were not going to honour the agreement they had made by 31st December 2025.

1,300 workers have been betrayed and mislead.

We are demanding that Swansea Bay Health Board reverse this decision and stick to the agreement that they made with their workers.
