Joel Cunningham has been sentenced to four years in prison for possessing psilocybin mushrooms, which he used for his own healing from PTSD and childhood trauma. This is a grave injustice.

Joel has already stood in court before. The Honourable Judge Neil Clarke acquitted him after hearing overwhelming evidence of the healing he had brought to people suffering with stage four cancer, epilepsy, PTSD, and other life-threatening conditions. Hundreds of testimonials were shared, and the judge saw the truth: Joel is a healer, not a dealer.

Yet now, despite this, Joel has been given a prison sentence harsher than many drug dealers receive for cocaine or heroin. He did not sell psilocybin. He did not profit from it. He simply picked it from fields and used it to treat his own trauma, while continuing his mission to help others.

Joel transformed his life after a difficult childhood. He lived with shamans in the Amazon, studied traditional plant medicines across Africa, Europe, and beyond, and dedicated his life to healing others. He has given freely, often without payment, helping people who had nowhere else to turn.

This sentence not only punishes Joel, but also punishes his young son Charlie, who will now grow up without his father during crucial years of his life.

We call on the justice system to correct this miscarriage of justice. Science now recognises that psilocybin has profound healing potential for PTSD, depression, and trauma. Leading institutions like Johns Hopkins and Imperial College London have published peer-reviewed studies confirming this.

To imprison a man who has given so much, healed so many, and asked for nothing in return is a crime against compassion itself.

We demand Joel’s immediate release. He is a healer, not a dealer.

As i stood in court and saw my brother Joel gets sentenced. I wanted to get up and say. Your honour if your loved one be it a friend a spouse or child, and all conventional medicine didn't work, and hearing all the testimonials of people he was instrumental in healing find a cure. would you sentence this man to prison or would you ask for his help? Alas I didn't get the chance but I think we know the answer and right now we need your help.
