The Bipartisan bill HB1509 is a proposed bill to ban the sale of cigarettes to people under the age of 100 by 2024. According to the bill, the purpose of this Act is to ban the sale of cigarettes in the State by gradually increasing the minimum age to purchase cigarettes, but not cigars, pipe tobacco, chewing tobacco, snuff, snus, or an electronic smoking device. This bill is simply a gradual change that could improve the state of our islands and it's people through the eradication of cigarette sales in Hawaii.

The measure has currently been withheld since February 7th, 2019 by the House Health Committee due to the lack of public feedback, now is your chance for your voice to be heard as part of the many that want to eradicate the sale of cigarettes in Hawaii.

Simply put, no one under the age of 100 can buy, use, or even possess any:

-roll of tobacco wrapped in paper or in any substance not containing tobacco

-roll of tobacco wrapped in any substance containing tobacco which, because of its appearance, the type of tobacco used in the filler, or its packaging and labeling, is likely to be offered to, or purchased by, consumers as a cigarette.
