Have new trains for the London Underground Bakerloo Line

Have new trains for the London Underground Bakerloo Line

The Issue

The Bakerloo Line of the London Underground is currently operating with trains that were manufactured in 1967, making them nearly 60 years old. As a frequent commuter on this line, I have come to experience the numerous challenges that these aging trains present. Daily delays due to mechanical issues, discomfort from outdated seating, and a lack of modern amenities make commutes far from ideal.

In envisioning a solution, I propose the procurement of new trains tailored for the Bakerloo Line. These new trains would be constructed with a modern design, but reflecting the iconic style of previous models such as the 1986 stock. They'd be aesthetically pleasing, reinforcing London's character, while being compatible with one another, ensuring smooth operations. The new designs would also be color-coded during construction to signify their manufacturer: Red by Alstom, Green by CAF, and Blue by Hitachi, each with two-coach compositions.

Updating the Bakerloo Line is imperative for enhancing reliability and comfort. Modern trains will reduce maintenance costs, improve punctuality, and enhance passenger experience—reflecting the standards of a global city like London. With the right investment, Transport for London (TfL) can ensure a sustainable public transportation system that meets the needs of its citizens and visitors alike.

I urge decision-makers to prioritize this project and build a transport network reflective of 21st-century needs. Please join me in signing this petition to advocate for new trains on the Bakerloo Line as an investment in our daily lives and our city's future.
