Have LPS Band represent Slovenia at the Eurovision Song Contest again!

The Issue

LPS (previously known as the Last Pizza Slice) is a young Slovenian band from the city of Celje, comprised of five members. Gašper Hlupic on drums, Zala Velenšek on bass guitar, Martin Mutec on guitar, Riga Žvižej on keyboard and Filip Vidušin on guitar and also the lead singer of the band.

Formed in the music room of the school that the five original members of the band went to,  LPS have managed to accomplish a lot of amazing things, and THIS is just the beginning.

In 2022, LPS decided to (as a joke suggested by Žiga) take part in EMA Freš, a competition for rising singers and bands who have less than three original songs out and are all under the age of thirty. The top four acts would advance to EMA, the competition that decides who gets to represent Slovenia at the Eurovision Songs Contest that year. LPS not only ended up in the top four of EMA Freš, they came first in EMA and at the young ages of 17, 18, 18, 19 and 20, won Slovenia’s ticket to the Eurovision Song Contest.

Disko: a song written about Filip’s ex who cheated on him whilst they were at a disco. Even though many people can (unfortunately) relate to being cheated on, it still ended up coming last. They, sadly, did not make it out of their semi-final and in the end ended up 40th out of 40 countries.

But that was back in May… of 2022. We are currently in June… of 2024. It has been a long two years since LPS represented Slovenia at the Eurovision Song Contest, and a lot has changed.

So, here are the reasons why the fandom think LPS should represent Slovenia at Eurovision again:

1) The band line up has changed. In 2023, Mark Semeja decided to leave the band. He was replaced by the very talented Martin Mutec who, up until now, has done an amazing job for the band. So technically, we can’t say it’s the same band representing Slovenia again, can we?

2) The type of music they are creating has changed. They no longer create Disko style music anymore. Having recently released their new album Počakaj Me, it is pretty clear that they are exploring who they are and what kind of music they want to create.

3) It would be their chance to improve and not come last. There is a strong possibility, that, if we were to have LPS represent Slovenia again, their score would improve. LPS might not come last and would certainly improve their score of 40th place.

4) They would make all of their fans happy. If LPS were to come back and represent Slovenia at the Eurovision Song Contest, all of their fans would be over the moon with joy, screaming their hearts out and jumping around everywhere.

5) If you like the way #Ljubljana2026 sounds, be the change that YOU want to see and sign this petition today to have the band LPS represent Slovenia at the Eurovision Song Contest.
