have LEGO finish the bionicle story, keep the memory of bionicle alive, and preserve media
The Issue
LEGO Bionicle told a story that ended on a cliffhanger due to the theme being discontinued. At the moment we left off, there were 5 or so different “B-teams” that were all part of a bigger conflict, all of which were left hanging and never tied back together. If you want to see the story so far, I will link a YouTube video that (regardless of it being an overview that skips smaller details) is 9 hours long {this only shows the sheer love put into Bionicle}. By signing this petition, you agree that LEGO should do the following actions:
- LEGO should release a canon version of events that wraps up the story by finishing the “Great Being story arc” (shown in the epilogue in the video below) and the “Elemental Lords arc” that never really got into full gear.
- LEGO should create a full line of Bionicle Cosplayer minifigures in the style of the Series 29 Tahu, ensuring each of the original Toa Mata is represented. These tribute minifigures should be made available to the public for purchase within one year of the story’s completion. To keep costs accessible for fans, they should be released in blind boxes (such as the Collectible Minifigure Series) rather than in expensive sets.
- LEGO should establish an official “Bionicle Digital Archive” on a publicly accessible website. This archive would serve as a historical repository for the community, featuring all Bionicle-related files in LEGO’s storage. By making these “lost” materials available for public viewing and educational download at no cost, LEGO can preserve the rich creative legacy of the theme for future generations of builders.
- LEGO should not be requested to release any sets, Bionicle toys, or memorabilia, or create any LEGO parts beyond the Toa Mata cosplay figs, due to the fact that LEGO retires their injection molds when they no longer use a part, thus making it near impossible to fully revive Bionicle.
WRITER'S NOTE: I (the writer) do not want LEGO to expend resources they don't have, nor do I think a reboot would do the theme justice (as seen with the mixed reception of the 2016 Netflix series, LEGO Bionicle: The Journey to One). I also think that Bionicle is at its pinnacle and I don't want a full revive for fear of everything being oversimplified for new audiences. For these reasons, this petition is not a revive/reboot Bionicle petition; it is instead a way to send off Bionicle and keep the memories alive.
