Hatboro CAN NOT let a Super Wawa be constructed within the downtown area. Like any other Philadelphia area resident, I've shared Wawa pride for most of my life. This pride has faltered in recent years after witnessing dozens of Super Wawas pop up in Montgomery County. Within 2.5 miles of downtown Hatboro there are 6 Super Wawas and 1 legacy (no gas) Wawa store in the downtown area. This is enough. A convenience store will always have the ability to become more convenient for their customer's, especially when there are 900 locations bringing in roughly $10 billion annually. This may seem dramatic but I don't have a personal vendetta against Wawa. I'm merely concerned for what the future of Hatboro looks like aesthetically and financially. The proposed construction site is at the intersection of Old York Rd and Horsham Rd. A Super Wawa here will not only catastrophically disrupt the traffic flow of downtown Hatboro, but could be the nail in the coffin for local, small businesses trying to endure the Covid-19 pandemic and be a 24-hour eye sore for local residents. I am planning on attending Hatboro's Zoning and Hearing Board's meeting on June 8th to present my concerns and welcome anyone who shares my worries.
