Dear friends,
As the situation on the ground in Al-Mawasi in Gaza gets ever more desperate we did have a little good news this week when Julia Hilton, the leader of Hastings Council, made a statement at the full council meeting and said she thought twinning was an 'excellent idea'.
We are hopeful that an official twinning link will be established very soon and we would like to encourage more residents in the town to get involved in twinning activities, either as individuals or through their business, school, faith group or community association.
To find out more please come along to our open meeting at 7pm on Wednesday 14th of February, in the Stade Hall in Hastings old town, as part of a week long exhibition of Palestinian children's art and poetry.
Full details of the meeting are on our facebook event.
Thank you to everyone who has supported this petition and taken action to demand a ceasefire, in solidarity with our friends in Al-Mawasi.
Keep up to date with news from Al-Mawasi and all our fundraising efforts and events on our facebook page www.facebook.com/HastingsFriendsAlMawasi
Or please feel free to contact hastingsalmawasi@gmail.com for more information.
In the face of truly inhuman suffering in Gaza please take this opportunity to reach out a hand of friendship and solidarity and show the people of Palestine they are not alone.
