We call on Hastings Council to establish an official town twinning between Hastings and the Palestinian town of Al-Mawasi in Gaza.

Al-Mawasi is a remote, coastal, fishing and farming community which has experienced many years of hardship under occupation and blockades, but has also shown immense resilience in the face of this injustice and immense creativity in developing their own community resources.

Hastings is currently twinned with a number of places around the world and we believe that Al-Mawasi would be a valuable addition to that network of international friendships.

We have been invited to visit Al-Mawasi by the local 'resilience committee' and we hope that twinning will facilitate exchange trips between our two towns and other cultural, business and educational links.
