Change the Reserved List Ruling

Change the Reserved List Ruling
The Issue
For years, cards for formats like Legacy and Commander have been locked behind a paywall for some players. While the Reserved List may have, at one point, served a function it is mine and many other players' opinions that the Reserved List no longer is needed. All it stands to do right now is to make certain formats more difficult for new and younger players to gain access. While there may be tentative reasons for Wizards of the Coast to not remove the Reserve List, entirely due to fear of lawsuits, there is a precedent where they amended the cards on the list and there were no lawsuits raised. While the concern of some people will be their financial investments, in a card game intended for ages 13 and up, it is my belief that their financial investments will not depreciate as they claim. In the case of the card Shivan Dragon, which has seen over 20 reprints, the original Alpha printing is being listed on TCG Player, a card game secondary market platform, for $6199.99(USD) as of the 8th of September 2020 in near-mint condition or $2,899.99(USD) for one in heavily played condition. Meanwhile, more recent printings of this card can be found for under a dollar (USD) and under ten cents (USD) in some cases. This is one example of original print run cards maintaining their value on the collectors market while still having accessible versions of the card for younger or newer players.
At the heart of this petition is the intent to hopefully bring the paywall down of playing Magic the Gathering, a card game intended for fun and enjoyment for children and people of all ages and means, and making it more accessible to all. While Magic the Gathering grows and new players are added to the community, there are certain aspects of the game that are just not feasible for some of those players to enter. Magic the Gathering is a card game that I would like to see continue to be a successful and enjoyable game that flourishes and grows instead of being held in a stranglehold by those who intend to use it as financial capital rather than a Trading Card Game.
