Recently, the Philadelphia Phillies filed suit to retain the rights to America’s premier mascot, the Phillie Phanatic! According to reports, Harrison/Erickson Inc. was commissioned to create the Phanatic in 1978. The Phillies contend they purchased the rights “forever” in 1984. Harrison/Erickson is attempting to take the Phanatic back.

The Phanatic is part of the fabric of the City of Brotherly Love. Cheesesteaks, the LOVE statue, political corruption (see soda tax) and the Phanatic define the city of blue collar workers.
