Parking is ridiculous. If you didn’t catch the news, USC raised parking by $40 a semester (http://www.thestate.com/news/local/education/article85953712.html which makes it $800 per year to park on campus. Not only are the costs of parking growing more and more expensive, the University is reducing parking spots around campus. The University has eliminated several hundred surface parking spots (which are now $110) since 2013.

How do you solve this problem? The downtown area is very densely populated, and everyone wants to use their own car. The meters are always taken and hourly parking in the garages is burdensome (if there are any spaces remaining).

The answer to this problem: open up the tailgating lots and allow students to take a shuttle from the stadium to campus. There are acres upon acres of parking which the University allows to sit.

We’ve already got the shuttles. And the University owns the land.

The only question is, will the University stop treating us like an open wallet and start treating us as students.
