For several years the goings-on at the Alexandria Zoo in Egypt have been dreadful, to say the least. The abuse of animals, poor maintenance of the facilities, and the utter carelessness of their staff. All of this has to stop! To temporarily fix the zoo's problems will waste time and money. So it seems the best and most logical course of action is to shut down the zoo and save those defenseless animals from any more abuse.

An example of the abuse I’m referring to dates back to July 2014, when two lions in small cages, were shot at with BB guns by teenagers. The staff did nothing while this went on. (reference)

Another example took place just a few days ago. Two men carrying large sticks entered the enclosure of a species of East-African baboons and began beating them mercilessly. Then to add insult to injury, the men stole and ate their bananas! Again, the staff did nothing to stop it, and the assailants got away without consequence. (reference)

The treatment of animals in this country is disgusting, something has to change.

The zoo itself is a terrible environment for animals and people alike. The grounds are dirty, with litter everywhere, and the enclosures are outdated and not well maintained. Animals look ill and tired making their medical treatment beyond disturbing, the creatures are slowly dying from neglect and malnourishment.

CLOSE THE ZOO AND SAVE THE ANIMALS!!
