The Essendon Football Club have been known as the Bombers for many decades and the image of a military aircraft has been utilised on numerous club logos dating back to the mid 1970’s - the association with aviation is in our DNA via our history of club facilities at both Essendon and now at Tullamarine.

Furthermore, we have a proud tradition of supporting and commemorating the ANZAC spirit via our now nearly three decade history of the annual ANZAC day clash with Collingwood that is now the most prestigious game in the AFL Home and Away season.

Supporters of this petition reject any notion that the use of an image of a military aircraft or the name “The Bombers” is out of step with modern values. Rather the complete opposite, both reflect our history and traditions and fierce competitive nature to be the finest club in the AFL. We rebuff any proposed sanitatisation of our proud brand and image.
