Since becoming the principal of East Ridge High School in July 2013, Tammy Helton has done nothing but look down upon the students. In 2 instances this year, she has made it more difficult for students. Before the school year began, the dress code for freshman was changed, singling them out. A separate petition was formed for that issue, and surpassed its goal (http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/revising-the-east-ridge-high-school-dress-code This week, the 2nd instance appeared, this time for a more ridiculous reason. Diplomas were held from 15 graduating seniors for "excessive celebrating". It's their graduation and the last time they would ever have to deal with Tammy Helton, I don't blame them one bit for celebrating. The simple act of being happy that you are graduating and celebrating a milestone does not call for punishment. As a graduated member of the class of 2015, I am appalled at the ridiculous rules and guidelines Tammy Helton has established for students. Even at our first pep rally, seniors were banned from the next pep rally because we had fired confetti poppers. I feel ashamed to even take my diploma into work places to show I have one because of the reputation this school has alone. Now I wish I'd have moved before I graduated so I would have had a nicer name on it. To spare future graduating classes from this monstrosity of a principal, I come to change.org today to gather an audience that wishes to foresee Tammy Helton's removal as principal of East Ridge High School. East Ridge Middle School was just assigned a new principal, East Ridge High should also receive one.
