My fellow residents of Kingman, AZ, and I have found ourselves on a financially precarious precipice due to Unisource's dramatic rise in the cost of electricity and gas. Our monthly bills have escalated from an average range of $120-$190 to nearly $500, becoming a substantial burden to many families. This price hike is not only uncalled for but also potentially disastrous to us, Arizonians, particularly through our searing summers.

Unisource's plan to increase costs, while their operating expenses remain the same creates an unfair burden on the consumers and reduces the affordability of basic utilities. Moreover, communities like ours that endure intense heat in the summers become the most adversely affected by this desperate measure.

Research shows that electricity prices nationwide have remained relatively stable over the past decade (U.S. Energy Information Administration, EIA). Nonetheless, Unisource has decided to disproportionally increase the costs for their customers, turning a critical necessity into a luxury.

This call is to Unisource - to review their pricing policies and recalibrate them to reflect both fairness to their customers and alignment with nationwide trends. The increased costs should be halted to ensure that utilities remain accessible and affordable to all residents in Kingman, AZ.
