Halt the Use of Texas’ Gerrymandered 2025 Congressional Map During the Court Battle

The Issue

The people of Texas deserve fair elections with fair maps. But once again, the state’s congressional districts are being tossed back and forth in court, and voters are caught in the middle.

Last week, a federal court ruled that the 2025 map drawn by Texas lawmakers likely involved racial gerrymandering. That court ordered the state to return to its 2021 lines. Now the U.S. Supreme Court has stepped in to temporarily pause that decision, allowing the new map to go back into effect for now.

This back-and-forth cannot continue. We need stability and fairness in our elections, and that means stopping the use of a map that has already been flagged as discriminatory by a lower court. Until the full case is heard and a final ruling is made, the 2025 map should not be used. The Supreme Court has the power to keep this map on hold and should do so immediately.

Communities of color in Texas have fought for decades to have their voices heard. The 2025 map was pushed by political leaders who admitted their goal was to increase partisan control. That kind of manipulation undermines democracy and suppresses representation for millions of Texans.

We call on the U.S. Supreme Court to stop ping ponging this issue between conflicting rulings and to keep the 2025 congressional map halted while the racial gerrymandering case is fully resolved. Voters deserve clarity, not chaos.

Sign this petition if you believe in fair maps, equal representation, and a democratic process that does not change by the week. Let the courts do their job without letting a contested map shape the outcome of the next election.
