Halt the Unjust Killing of XL Bullies in the UK

The Issue

I am a concerned citizen deeply affected by the current government law that has led to the killing of numerous XL bullies across our nation. This law has caused heartbreak within our community, as many have lost their cherished pets. It's not just unfair to these innocent dogs; it's ethically wrong and denies them a chance at life.

The behaviour of these dogs is not inherent, but rather a result of how they are raised. Therefore, it seems unjust that countless dogs are being punished for human actions. Instead, we should hold accountable those owners who fail to raise their pets responsibly.

According to RSPCA reports, breed-specific legislation is ineffective in reducing dog bites and improving public safety (RSPCA 2016). Moreover, research shows that aggression in dogs cannot be accurately predicted based on breed alone (Patronek et al., 2000). These findings suggest that targeting specific breeds for eradication does more harm than good.

We urge the UK government to reconsider this harmful law and instead focus on promoting responsible pet ownership. Let us work together towards creating an environment where every dog gets a fair chance at life regardless of its breed or size.

Please sign this petition if you believe in justice for all animals and want to see an end to this cruel practice.
