As a deeply concerned citizen of Great Britain, I am disturbed by the prospect of a visit from the current President of the USA. His reign has been widely recognised as one of the most fearful periods for global peace and unity. His divisive politics, disregard for global environmental agreements, and propensity for conflict have sent shockwaves across the world.

The President has been complicit in the erosion of key democratic norms, which is fundamentally in contradiction with the values held deeply by our nation. This has manifested in the form of his dismissal of climate change, evidenced by his withdrawal from the Paris Agreement and revoking regulations intended to mitigate pollution.

Britain has always stood as a beacon of democracy, unity, peace and adherence to human rights. Entertaining a visit from a leader who has shown blatant disregard for these values would be an affront to our core principles. Our monarchy would not be honouring his position, but condoning his actions.

Hosting him gives him an unearned mark of respect and fosters a harmful precedent that could embolden future leaders to cavalierly disregard global unity for personal agendas.

I urge our government officials to consider the far-reaching implications of such a visit. I call on my fellow citizens to voice their objections and uphold our commitment to peace, unity and mutual respect among nations.
