Halt the Rezoning of Southeast Oklahoma City to Protect Water Supply and Wildlife Habitats

The Issue

I am a resident of Southeast Oklahoma City, where we are facing an imminent threat to our well water supply and local wildlife habitats due to proposed rezoning. The development that will follow this rezoning will not only contaminate our well water but also destroy the natural habitats of deer, wild turkeys, hawks, owls, and other wildlife that call this area home.

Our community relies heavily on our well water supply. Contamination from construction runoff could have severe consequences for us all. According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), construction activities can contribute sediment and other pollutants into nearby bodies of water which can significantly affect drinking water sources.

Moreover, the destruction of wildlife habitats is another major concern. This area is home to a diverse range of species including deer, wild turkey, hawks, owls among others. These animals play crucial roles in maintaining ecological balance in our region.

We cannot stand by while these changes threaten our way of life and endanger the creatures we share it with. We urge city officials to reconsider their plans for rezoning in Southeast Oklahoma City.

Please join me in protecting our community's resources by signing this petition against the proposed rezoning plan. The area they are wanting to rezone is the NW corner of Se 89th St and Anderson Rd, west side of Anderson rd, about 160 acres total.
